Classic Fighter Industries New Build Me 262 aircraft

1999

The nearly completed Me 262 B-1a, the only one of 15 two seat trainers to survive the war.

In the hangar, looking out.  The light colored vertical lines on the fuselage
are the seems between the panels which are covered with cloth tape.
(Ironicly, this hangar used to house USAF Jet fighters on 24 hour alerts during the cold war).

Parts from the original Me 262 wing, too corroded for use on the resoration.

2000

Work progresses through early February 2000, with attention to the wing to body filet

Rebuilt starboard engine exhaust nacelle

Starboard pair of 30mm cannon in the nose gun bay

Much of the wing is newly built due to the extreme corrosion found in the original.
